UK announces, fully vaccinated Indian travelers not required to undergo mandatory 10-day quarantine on arrival from Monday.

The United Kingdom has announced that  Indian travellers who have been fully vaccinated with Covishield or any other UK-approved vaccine, will not be required to undergo the mandatory 10-day quarantine on arrival in the country from Monday.

In a statement, UK government yesterday said, from 11th of this month, eligible travellers vaccinated in over 47 new countries and territories including India, South Africa and Turkey, will also be treated the same as returning fully vaccinated UK residents if they had not visited a red list country or territory in the 10 days before arrival.

Taking to Twitter, British High Commissioner to India, Alex Ellis said, from 11th of October, no quarantine will be required for Indian travellers visiting UK who are fully vaccinated with Covishield or another UK-approved vaccine. He thanked the Indian government for close cooperation over last month.

The UK had so far not accepted India’s Covishield certification due to which Indian travellers were required to undergo 10-day quarantine with expensive Covid tests on day 2nd and 8th of arrival.

India had last week reciprocated by imposing similar conditions on arrivals from the UK in response to the British Government’s discriminatory travel rules.
