Vice President Venkaiah Naidu today presented the President’s colour to the Tamil Nadu Police and released a Special Cover to honour the occasion. The President’s Colour is the highest honour given to the military, paramilitary and police forces of States and Union Territories. Delivering his speech on the Occasion, Mr. Naidu appreciated the Tamil Nadu state Police for receiving the prestigious colour as the first in Southern India.
He said that the State ranks second in the list of more women in the police force and observed that the State was the first to create a women commando force. He said, the police force needs to be updated and ready to handle modern crimes in cyberspace. The Vice President appreciated the formation of the State Marine Police Force to prevent crimes and protect the 1076 km long coastline of Tamil Nadu.
Mr. Naidu said that Tamil Nadu is the only State to have a police unit to investigate smuggling of idols and statues.
