Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur today launched an online portal for schemes of Department of Sports namely, DBT Website and the National Sports Development Fund Portal. Launching the portal virtually, Mr Thakur said that the government has provided various facilities to the sportspersons of the country by implementing schemes like Target Olympic Podium Scheme. He said, the government also provides out-of-pocket allowances to the sportspersons participating in national and international events. Mr. Thakur also informed that the youth of the country also get a platform through Khelo India Unversity Games and Khelo India Youth Games to showcase their talents.
The Minister highlighted that procedures have been relaxed for the athletes so that they can get the benefits of welfare schemes without any delay. He also appealed to the people, PSUs, corporate houses, and other institutions to make their contribution to the National Sports Development Fund for creating sports infrastructure and facilities for the sportspersons.
