Union Minister Amit Shah addresses Annual General Meeting of major cooperatives in Gujarat
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said, the mutual coordination and collective development of the cooperative sector in Gujarat is a model for all cooperatives across the country.
Addressing the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of major cooperatives in Gujarat at Amreli, Mr. Shah said, the Centre is planning to make primary agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) multi-purpose and model by-laws for the same are ready.
Mr. Shah further added that the Government also aims to raise the number of PACs from the existing 65,000 to three lakh during the next five years. The Minister also informed that the Government is planning to form a multi-state cooperative society for seed culture and marketing as well as certification of organic products across the country.
Union Minister of Dairy, and fisheries Parshottam Rupala was also present on the occasion. Various subjects related to PACs including computerisation, and action plans for the revitalisation of defunct PACs were discussed in the meeting.
Later, Mr. Shah visited and offered prayers at the Somnath temple. The Minister also unveiled the 16 feet statue at Somnath temple at Somnath and inaugurated as many as 262 shops called ‘Maruti Haat’ near the Arabian sea coast in Somnath.
