Union Agriculture Minister says over three thousand 157 lakh tonnes of foodgrain production estimated in 2021-22
Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has said that the production of food grains in the country is estimated at over three thousand 157 lakh tonnes in 2021-22, which is higher by 50 lakh tonnes as compared to 2020-21.
He said, the total pulses production during this period is estimated at a record 277 lakh tonnes and oilseeds are about 377 lakh tonnes. Addressing the National Conference on Agriculture for Rabi Campaign 2022-23 in New Delhi today, Mr Tomar said that the Central and State Governments are jointly discharging their responsibilities in the agriculture sector.
He said, a lot of work has been done in the country in terms of production, due to which there has been an increase in the production of food grains, pulses and oilseeds.
The Minister said, under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana one lakh 22 thousand crore rupees have been given to farmers as compensation for the loss of their crops. Mr. Tomar said that all the farmers should be brought under the ambit of this scheme.
