Two lakh more dairies will be set up in the country before 2024 elections: Amit Shah
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that two lakh more dairies will be set up in the country before 2024 elections.
Addressing the International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit 2022, in Greater Noida this evening, Mr. Shah said, currently there are around two lakh rural dairies are functional in the country. He added that at present one crore 80 lakh farmers are associated with the dairies through cooperative sector.
The Home Minister said, the cooperative institutions in the dairy sector empower women, and help in rural development at different levels. He said, India has emerged as the largest milk-producing country in the world with the contribution of lakhs of small and marginal farmers.
Mr. Shah said, India has not only become the self-reliant in dairy sector but also become exporter of dairy products in this year. He said, in 2014 India was ranked 11th among the largest economies in the world and in the span of just eight years, it has become the 5th largest economy. Mr. Shah expressed hope that India will be the third largest economy in the world in the coming years.
