Today is International Nurses Day; PM Modi appreciates vital role of Nurses in keeping planet healthy

Today is International Nurses Day. This day is celebrated worldwide on May 12  to mark the contribution made by nurses to the society, in a health care set up and in a community.

The day coincides with the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appreciated the role of Nurses for their vital role in keeping the planet healthy on International Nurses Day. He said, their dedication and compassion is exemplary. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, International Nurses Day is a day to reiterate our appreciation to all nursing staff for their exceptional work even in the most challenging of situations.

The Military Nursing Service or MNS of the Indian Armed Forces is celebrating the day with great zeal and excitement.

In an exclusive message to All India Radio on the occasion of  International Nurses day 2022, the head of MNS Major General Smita Devrani said the Nursing Officers of MNS are extending their services to the people in need by upholding the theme of International Nurses Day 2022 which is Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Invest in Nursing and respect rights to secure global health.
