Tamil Nadu: CM MK Stalin thanks EAM Jaishankar for accepting request to facilitate humanitarian aid to Sri Lanka

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has thanked the External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar for accepting the state government’s request to facilitate humanitarian aid to Sri Lanka. He has tweeted Dr Jaishankar’s reply letter to him in response to the state Assembly resolution that was passed earlier on the subject. He has remarked that the Centre’s humane gesture will be greatly welcomed by all and help to improve the warmth and cordiality between the nations. He has wished goodwill to grow in all spheres.

Meanwhile, Dr Jaishankar in his letter dated yesterday to Mr. Stalin has said the Sri Lankan Government is open to receiving inclusive relief on a Government-to-Government basis. He has referred to an earlier communication from the Ministry to the state government that suggested supplementing the relief efforts being made by the Union Government to help Sri Lanka through the Indian High Commission in Colombo. He has asked the Chief Minister to direct the state Chief Secretary to coordinate with the External Affairs Ministry to share the humanitarian aid with the Sri Lankan authorities for distributing them appropriately under the current situation
