Shale has not been established in India so far, but there is Shale Gas in the country: Hardeep Singh Puri

Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri today said Shale has not been established in India so far, but there is shale Gas in the country.  On being asked by Congress MP Manish Tewari about the specific steps being taken to incentivize shale gas and exploration as well as recent significant discoveries, Mr Puri informed the Lok Sabha that shale has not been established as yet in India. However, he assured about the existence of shale in India, which needs to be addressed.

The minister informed the Lok Sabha that the Ministry expects domestic production of gas would go up by 18 percent in the present calendar year.
