President Ram Nath Kovind awards President’s Colour to INS Valsura in Gujarat
President Ram Nath Kovind awarded the prestigious President’s Colour to Indian Naval Ship- INS) Valsura in Jamnagar- Gujarat this morning. The President’s Colour is bestowed on a military unit in recognition of exceptional service rendered to the nation, both in peace and in war.
Speaking on this occasion, President Kovind said that as a Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces, it was a moment of immense satisfaction and pride for me. He said that INS Valsura has reached a history of professional excellence and it has discharged its responsibility with distinction.
To mark the occasion, a ceremonial parade was held and a 150-men guard of honour was presented to the President. Established in 1942, INS Valsura is a premier training establishment of the Indian Navy. It is entrusted with the responsibility of imparting training to officers and sailors of the Indian Navy, Coast Guard and friendly foreign countries in electrical, electronics, weapon systems and information technology.
Earlier, President Kovind had been accorded a warm welcome at Air Force Station in Jamnagar on his arrival this morning.
Gujarat Governor along with senior Ministers, Local Member of Parliament and district officials welcomed the President. President Kovind is on a two-day visit to Gujarat from yesterday.
