President Kovind reviews IMA passing out parade in Dehradun, remembers late CDS General Bipin Rawat
President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday reviewed the passing out parade for the Indian Military Academy. Addressing the cadets, he also lauded the efforts of the late General Bipin Rawat who had been trained at the IMA. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Governor Gurmit Singh were also present.
“Our flag shall always fly high because brave men like late CDS General Bipin Rawat, who was trained here at the IMA, will always preserve and protect its honour,” President Kovind noted. Appointed as India’s first Chief of Defence Staff in 2020, General Rawat passed away in a horrific helicopter crash earlier this week. 13 people were killed in the crash, including his wife and his defence adviser Brigadier Lidder.
“Respect for our soldiers is topmost for us. Late CDS General Rawat will always be Uttarakhand’s pride. If any miscreant makes any objectionable comment about any late defence personnel on social media or otherwise, our government will take stringent legal action against them,” added Chief Minister Dhami.
