The Indian National Flag is a symbol of national pride for the entire nation. To honour our flag, ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Programme will be organised all over the country. The initiative has been taken under the aegis of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, for which the Ministry of Culture is the nodal ministry. It envisages inspiring Indians everywhere to hoist the national flag at their home.
Our relationship with the flag has always been more formal and institutional than personal. Bringing the flag home collectively as a nation in the 75th year of independence thus becomes symbolic of not only an act of personal connection to the Tiranga, but also an embodiment of our commitment to nation-building, The idea behind the initiative is to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the people and promote awareness about our national flag.
During his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ Programme on All India Radio yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called upon all citizens to turn the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Campaign into a mass movement by hoisting or displaying the national flag at their homes. He also called upon people to use the tricolour as display picture of their social media accounts to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence.
