PM Modi urges India to take up 3 sankalps after inaugurating Kashi Vishwanath Dham – details

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the first phase of the Kashi Vishwanath Dham and urged the citizens of India to commit to three resolutions for the betterment of the nation. Arriving at his parliamentary constituency earlier today, Modi paid obeisance at the Kaal Bhairav Temple and took a dip in the Ganga. There, he collected holy water for worship at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

“I want three resolutions from you, not for yourself, but for our country – cleanliness (swachhta), creation and innovation (srijan) and continuous efforts to create a self-reliant India,” he said after inaugurating the Rs 339 crore project.

The event was attended by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP President J P Nadda and many saints from across the country.

Addressing the gathering after the inauguration ceremony, Modi also spoke about the “India of today” that is making developmental strides in every sphere. “The new India is proud of its culture and also has confidence in its ability…there is ‘Virasat’ and ‘Vikas’ in the new India,” he added.

Built at the cost of Rs 339 crores, the state-of-the-art Kashi Vishwanath Dham surrounds the historic Kashi Vishwanath Temple near the iconic Dashashwamedh Ghat. 23 new buildings have been constructed, and the project is now spread over five lakh square feet. It connects the temple premises to the River Ganga besides providing several facilities to devotees.

The new complex, Prime Minister Modi said, was much more than a grand building. “This is a symbol of the Sanatan culture of our India,” he asserted. He dubbed the Vishwanath Dham a “testament of India’s culture and ancient history” and how the country’s ancient values were guiding it towards the future.

“When you come here, you will not see only faith. You will also feel the glory of your past here. You will see how pracheenta (ancient) and naventa (modern) come alive together,” he added.
