PM Modi to interact with beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana and owners of Janaushadhi Kendras today
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana and the owners of Janaushadhi Kendras on the occasion of Jan Aushadhi Diwas today via video conferencing. The interaction will be followed by the address of the Prime Minister on the occasion.
The theme of the event is – Jan Aushadhi-Jan Upyogi. Jan Aushadhi Diwas is celebrated every year on 7th March with a view to propagate achievements of the scheme and create awareness about its benefits. Interacting with the beneficiaries last year, Mr Modi had highlighted the benefits of the scheme.
Jan Aushadhi week is also being celebrated across the country from 1st March to generate awareness about the usage of generic medicines and benefits of Janaushadhi Pariyojana. In this week, various events such as Jan Aushadhi Sankalp Yatra, Matri Shakti Samman, Jan Aushadhi Bal Mitra, Jan Aushadhi Jan Jagran Abhiyan, Aao Jan Aushadhi Mitra Baney and Jan Aushadhi Jan Arogya Mela have been organised.
AIR correspondent reports, Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana is a noble initiative of the Government which is making an impact on masses in its endeavour to provide quality medicines at an affordable price.
In line with the Prime Minister’s vision to make medicines affordable and accessible to the citizens, there are now more than 8 thousand 600 Janaushadhi stores operational across the country. Under the scheme, all 739 districts of the country have been covered.
The Government has set a target to increase the number of Janaushadhi Kendras to 10 thousand 500 by the end of March 2025. The product basket of the scheme comprises one thousand 451 drugs and 240 surgical instruments.
Besides, new medicines and nutraceuticals products like protein powder, immunity bar, sanitizer, masks, glucometer and oximeter have also been launched.
