Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Dehradun to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple projects worth around Rs 18,000 crore on December 4.
This includes the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor to be built at a cost of around Rs 8300 crore.
According to the statement issued by the PMO, Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor will reduce the travel time from Delhi to Dehradun from 6 hours to around 2.5 hours.
His third visit to the poll-bound Uttarakhand in three months
It will have 7 major interchanges for connectivity to Haridwar, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Yamunanagar, Baghpat, Meerut and Baraut, the statement read.
To tackle the problem of chronic landslides in the region and make travel safer, the PM will inaugurate seven projects. He will also inaugurate Hydroelectric Project and Himalayan Culture Center at Dehradun.
The PM will be addressing a rally on December 4 and this visit comes ahead of assembly polls in the state scheduled for next year.
It will be Modi’s third visit to the poll-bound Uttarakhand in three months.
Earlier, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had said that during PM’s visit, a lot of works that have been concluded will be unveiled and the works and foundation will be laid down for new works as well.
“There will be a huge public meeting too for which we are expecting a massive crowd given the Prime Minister’s fondness for Uttarakhand, his connection with the state,” he added.
Rapid antigen tests for those attending PM’s rally
Meanwhile, ahead of the Prime Minister’s scheduled rally, the District Magistrate of the city has given instructions to conduct rapid antigen tests for those attending the public meeting at the Parade Ground.
The order has been issued by Dehradun District Magistrate R Rajesh Kumar.
“In view of the new variant of COVID-19, the Health Department has been asked to make all necessary arrangements at the Parade Ground for testing of those attending the Prime Minister’s public rally at the Parade Ground,” ANI quoted Kumar as saying.
