PM Modi inaugurates Bharat Drone Mahotsav 2022; says India marching ahead with great speed & scale to become drone technology hub of world

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that India is marching ahead with great speed and scale to become drone technology hub of the world. Inaugurating the India’s biggest Drone Festival – Bharat Drone Mahotsav-2022 in New Delhi, Mr Modi said, India has the potential of becoming a global drone hub and this technology will play crucial role in several sectors ranging from agriculture, defence, disaster management, health and land mapping in the future.

Highlighting the importance of technology, the Prime Minister said, it has ensured last mile delivery and with the help of technology, target of Antyodaya can be achieved. Terming drone technology effective tool in delievery of services and improving ease of living, he said, drone technology will take the farming sector to another level and it will ensure the progress of marginalized farmers.

He said, farmers confidence towards the technology has increased in the last eight years and now they are adopting technology without any fear. He said, drone sector has immense potential in generation of employment opportunities in the country. He said, under the Mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’, the government used technology as a bridge to bring welfare to the common citizens. He said, drone will play crucial role in delivery of medicines and vaccines in the far flung areas of the country. Mr. Modi said, with the help of drone, he reviewed the progress of Kedarnath Redevelopment Project.

Appreciating the use of drone in PM-SVAMITVA scheme, the Prime Minister said, 65 lakh property cards have been generated with the help of drones. He said, for the first time, digital mapping of every property in the villages of the country is being done under this scheme. It has reduced human intervention and increased transparency.

The Prime Minister said, this government has reduced the restrictions imposed on drone sector. He said, Production Linked Incentive scheme was introduced for making robust ecosystem for drone sector. He urged the investors to come and invest in India’s booming drone sector. He also urged the youths to come forward and set up drone start-ups.

On the occasion, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said, India has become leader in the technology sector in the last eight years. He said, drones are playing crucial role in several sectors including defence, agriculture and land mapping. He said, drone industry is estimated to achieve 15 thousand crore rupees turnover by the year 2026.

During the Mahotsav, Prime Minister interacted with five Kisan Drone Operators. He also witnessed open-air drone demonstrations and interacted with start-ups at the drone exhibition. Several Union Ministers including Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Agriculture Minister Narendra singh Tomar and other dignitaries were present during the Mahotsav

AIR correspondent reports that Bharat Drone Mahotsav will prove to be a game changer in making India a drone hub of the world by 2030. At the Mahotsav, over 1,600 delegates are participating and more than 70 exhibitors displaying drones. Several industry leaders, government officials, foreign diplomats, representatives from Public Sector Units, private companies and drone start-ups are participating in the Mahotsav.

They will deliberate upon India’s Civil Aviation sector. The Government has been working to establish a globally-leading drone ecosystem in India which will create the physical and digital infrastructure to support safe, efficient and secure operation of drones in the Indian airspace. Drones offer tremendous benefits to almost all sectors of the economy. These include – agriculture, mining, infrastructure, surveillance, emergency response, transportation, geo-mapping, defence and law enforcement.
