PM Modi in Jhansi: ‘Our vision today is Make in India, Make for World’ – Prime Minister’s major push for ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ in defence sector

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday officially handed over Light Combat Helicopters to the Indian Air Force in Jhansi, and several other indigenously developed defence technologies to the other two services – the Indian Navy and the Indian Army. He also laid the foundation stone for the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor project. The Prime Minister kick-started the beginning of the significant project on the concluding three-day ‘Rashtra Raksha Samarpan Parv’ event organised by the Ministry of Defence, along with the government of Uttar Pradesh.The Centre has decided to set up two Defence Industrial Corridors in the country – one in Tamil Nadu and the other in Uttar Pradesh. The mega project is by the Central government is aimed at achieving strategic Independence.“Bundelkhand is going to the play the role of a ‘sarathi’ (chariot) in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor. Once known for its courage and valour, Bundelkhand will now also be recognised as a major centre of India’s defence capability,” he said.Earlier in the day in Mahoba, PM Modi tore into the opposition and accused the previous Uttar Pradesh governments of depriving the people of Budelkhand of water and other developmental initiatives.“For decades, governments have been robbing the people of Bundelkhand. We will bring back the glory of Budelkhand. It is no secret how jungles and resources of this region were handed over to mafias. Now, that bulldozer is being used against these mafias, some people are making hue and cry. We will provide water to the 4 lakh people in Bundelkhand who have been deprived of the basic amenity,” the Prime Minister said.

Prime Minister Modi in Jhansi today announced that now even girls can seek admission in Sainik schools and take inspiration from India’s warrior women like Rani Laxmibai, and do their part for national security.

“Today, on one hand, the strength of our forces is increasing, but at the same time, ground is also being prepared for the capable youth to protect the country in future. These 100 Sainik Schools which will be started will work in the coming times to give the future of the country in powerful hands. Our government has started the admission of daughters in Sainik Schools. In 33 Sainik Schools, the admission of girl students has also started from this session. Daughters like Rani Laxmibai will also emerge from Sainik Schools, who will take the responsibility of defence, security, development of the country on their shoulders,” PM Modi said.
