PM Modi addresses J&K Rozgar Mela at Kashmir International Convention Centre Srinagar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 30th October said that Jammu and Kashmir is the pride of every Indian and together we have to take it to new heights. Stating that the people of J&K have always emphasised transparency, the Prime Minister said that the time has come to leave the old challenges and take advantage of the new possibilities. Addressing Jammu and Kashmir Rozgar Mela via video conferencing, he said that for a fast pace of development, we have to work with a new approach and new thinking.  During the Rozgar Mela, 3000 appointment letters to work in the various government departments were handed over to youth across 20 different places in the Union Territory.

Congratulating the recipients of appointment letters, the Prime Minister informed that preparations are in full swing to hand out more than 700 appointment letters in other departments in the coming days. He underlined that youth will write a new story of development in J&K. He also informed that recruitments have been done for about 30 thousand posts in government departments since 2019. The Prime Minister added that the mantra of ‘Employment through competence’ is instilling new confidence in the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. Throwing light on the record increase in the number of tourists witnessed by J&K, the Prime Minister noted that the tourism sector received a boost due to the infrastructural developments and increased connectivity. He further added that farmers have also benefited a great deal from increased connectivity as it is now easier for the apple farmers of J&K to send their produce outside the UT.

On the occasion, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed gratitude to the  Prime Minister. He said that he was grateful to Prime Minister for addressing Jammu Kashmir Rozgar Mela and blessing 3000 youths who have received appointment letters. He said under the guidance of Prime Minister, J&K’s youth is scripting new history in different sectors and contributing to the national progress.

Terming Good Governance as commitment to serve people and work for prosperity and welfare of the poorest of the poor, the Lt Governor said he was confident the new appointees will play the vital role of reinforcing our values in public service and serve the people with honesty, absolute integrity and truthfulness. During the ceremony, the Lt Governor handed over appointment letters to the talented youth of J&K.  A total of 3000 appointment letters were distributed across the UT during the first phase of the Rozgar Mela. He said youth is the strength of J&K and in the past three years, J&K UT has made rapid progress in empowering youth, farmers and women. He maintained we have taken many steps to create supportive infrastructure, schemes and policies for entrepreneurship and self-employment.

The Lt Governor observed that in the last three years, 30,000 youth have been given government jobs & 5.2 lakh have been provided self-employment opportunities and more than 5.5 lakh women are associated with Self-Help Groups. He further said that J&K is today offering vast scope for self-employment, both in manufacturing & service sector and helping the young entrepreneurs with training, credit and market access, technical inputs to create a lot of employment opportunities in a decentralized manner.

The Lt Governor said in ‘Azadi ka Amrit Kaal Khand’, our youth power will work with full dedication for the bright future of Jammu and Kashmir. He observed today youth of J&K are working in different sectors with single-minded pursuit of excellence through determination and hard work and said that such commitment is the foundation of a vibrant society, which keeps the wheel of peace, progress and prosperity moving.

Mr Sinha said the exams that were canceled will be held soon and the process of handing over 700 appointment letters in different government departments will also be completed in the coming days.
