Piyush Goyal asks eminent institutions of design in country to increase student intake by 10 times
Commerce and Industry and Textiles Minister Piyush Goyal have asked eminent institutions of design in the country to increase their student intake by 10 times. He also asked educational institutions to focus on developing human resources in remote parts of the nation, especially the east and northeast.
Mr Goyal was interacting with the heads and senior faculty members of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Indian Institute of Packaging, National Institute of Design, National Institute of Fashion Technology, and Footwear Design and Development Institute in New Delhi today. He asked the institutes to focus on creating an extensive alumni network that has immense potential to contribute to the growth of the alma mater.
The Minister also asked corporates to generously support eminent educational institutions. Mr Goyal called for improving campus placements by marketing better to the world. He opined that every campus must become an incubator for startups and must strive to nurture and develop innovation and entrepreneurship. The Minister said, students must aspire to take India’s fashion technology to the developed markets of the world.
