Over 48 percent rural households in the country have received tap water supply in their homes so far. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today, Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Prahlad Singh Patel said, out of 19.32 crore rural households in the country, 9.35 crore households are reported to have tap water supply in their homes so far.
He informed that in Goa, Telangana, Haryana, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, provision for tap water supply to all rural households has been made.
The Minister said, about 3.8 crore rural households are expected to be covered through tap water supply during 2022-23 under the Jal Jeevan Mission. Mr. Patel added that 60 thousand crore rupees have been allocated in this regard.
