Nitin Gadkari inaugurates and lays foundation stone for six National Highway projects in Madhya Pradesh
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 6 National Highway projects of 119 KMs worth 2300 Crore rupees in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Speaking on the occasion Shri Gadkari informed that the projects being launched for better connectivity in Indore will make the path of progress easier in the State. He said, the problem of jams on Rau circle will end and there will be ease in the traffic.
With easy connectivity from Indore, artisans, students and businessmen of nearby areas will get better opportunities. He added the connectivity of the villages of the Indore-Harda section with Indore will be better. The development of the Dhar-Pithampur Industrial Corridor will create new employment opportunities.
Regarding the use of cheap fuel, the Minister said, we have to adopt Green Hydrogen, Ethanol, Bio-CNG in place of expensive fuels like petrol and diesel, only then the smooth implementation of future plans will be possible. He explained that the cost of running a diesel bus is Rs 115 per km while the electric bus runs at Rs 41 per km. Shri Gadkari informed that the Central Government will give electric buses to Madhya Pradesh in due course of time.
Addressing the programme virtually, Minister of State, General VK Singh said, roads in Madhya Pradesh have developed at an unprecedented pace in the last seven years. All 52 districts of the state have been connected by National Highway. In these seven years, 4,500 km of roads have been constructed in the State at a cost of more than 26 thousand crores, he further added.
Addressing the programme, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan demanded 20 flyovers and Road over bridges (ROB) for the State. Shri Gadkari approved these projects under the Setu Bharatam scheme worth Rs 16,000 crore.
During this programme MoU was signed between the State government and NHAI for the construction of ropeways at 14 selected places in Madhya Pradesh.
