Nitin Gadkari emphasises on maintaining equilibrium between ecology, environment and development in the country

Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari today said that India needs development at the same time the protection of the ecology and environment.

Speaking at an event in New Delhi on Climate Goals, the Minister said that today India imports fourteen to sixteen lakh crore rupees of fossil fuel which is not only an environmental but also an economic burden.

Mr Gadkari said, to fulfil Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream for an ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, finding options to reduce imports is the need of the hour.

The Minister also highlighted proven technology, economic viability, availability of raw materials and marketability of the product as four important pillars to write India’s success story in Aatmanirbharta.

The Minister also urged the research organisations to find out 100 percent new innovations in order to add value in waste material management and to deal with carbon emission. Mr Gadkari also cited a few previous examples of the government initiatives to tackle the same.
