NHRC issues notice to the Environment Ministry on reported high air pollution impacting life expectancy in the country.

The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC has issued a notice to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on reported high air pollution impacting life expectancy in the country. NHRC took suo motu cognizance of media reports, in which quoting that air pollution is a great threat to human health in the country and reducing life expectancy overall by five years and nine point seven years for the people in Delhi.
 
The Commission asked for a report on the matter from the ministry within four weeks. It also asked the status of the National Clean Air Program launched in 2019. NHRC has also expected the State authorities to take the issue with utmost sincerity in a time bound manner.
