New ILS likely to be functional by July 2023: Dir AAI
Director, Airports Authority of India (AAI), Srinagar, Kuldeep Singh Sunday that the advanced Instrument of Landing System (ILS) at the Srinagar airport will likely be made functional by July 2023.
“Work is underway at ILS and the project will be completed and made functional by July,” he said, adding that more services are being upgraded at the airport.
Singh further said Srinagar International airport had started handling three daily international Haj flights to Fujairah and Madina from 11th June till Jun 20th.
“Two X-ray machines and almost 35% of the terminal building area have been dedicated for the international flights,” he said.
The Director added that the three X-ray machines and 65 percent of the terminal building area is available for remaining domestic flights numbering around 50 to 55.
“This may result in a temporary increase in waiting and queuing time. We have deployed additional staff to mitigate the delay and avoid inconvenience,” he said.
This year 5902 persons, including 5700 from Jammu and Kashmir and 202 from Ladakh are performing the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
