Narendra Modi in Varanasi Day 2: PM chairs meet of BJP CMs, party’s district and mandal presidents

With an eye on Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief ministers and party’s district and mandal presidents in Varanasi.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi had earlier confirmed that PM Modi would be meeting the district presidents and Mandal presidents (of the party) on December 14 in Kashi, Uttar Pradesh.

BJP national president JP Nadda recently called on the BJP’s district and mandal presidents to engage with the grass root level party workers and people.

Uttar Pradesh will go to the polls early next year and the BJP is leaving no stone unturned to remain in power. Some exit polls have suggested that the main contest will be between the ruling BJP and Akhilesh Yadav headed Samajwadi Party.

PM Modi will also attend a conclave of BJP chief ministers from Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura. The deputy chief ministers of Bihar and Nagaland will also be in attendance.

SP has formed a pre-poll alliance with Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and Om Prakash Rajbhar’s Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) to take on the saffron party in the Hindi heartland.

PM Modi inaugurated 1st phase of Kashi Vishwanath Dham

PM Modi reached Varanasi on Monday and inaugurated the first phase of the Kashi Vishwanath Dham and lauded the civilisational heritage of Varanasi.

After inaugurating the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor complex, PM Modi addressed a gathering saying, “Invaders attacked this city, tried to destroy it. History is witness to Aurangzeb’s atrocities, his terror. He tried to change civilisation by the sword. He tried to crush culture with fanaticism. But the soil of this country is different from the rest of the world. Here if an (Mughal Emperor) Aurangzeb comes, a (Maratha warrior) Shivaji also rises.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP president, Deputy Chief Ministers Dinesh Sharma and Keshav Maurya, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Mahendra Pandey and state BJP president Swatantra Dev Singh attended the mega event.
