The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Amendment) Bill, 2021 was introduced in the Lok Sabha today. N.K. Premachandran of RSP opposed the introduction of the Bill. He said, the legislation is in violation of Article 21.
He added, the government is giving retrospective effect to a criminal penal offence. BJD leader Bhartruhari Mahtab also asked government to redraft the legislation.
