MAYOR, DEPUTY MAYOR, JMC LAID FOUNDATION STONE OF CATTLE POND AT BANDHURAKH.

Sh. Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor JMC alongwith Advocate Smt. Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor, JMC laid foundation stone of cattle Pond/Gaushala at Municipal land at Bandhurakh Jammu. Dr. Susheel Sharma Municipal Veterinary Officer, Sh. Satish Langer Executive Engineer, Sh. Janak Raj Saini Assistant Executive Engineer, concerned Junior Engineer  and other Supervisory staff of Engineering Division-IV as well as Sh. Rajinder Kumar Sanitation Officer, Scheme Mattoo Sanitary Inspector, Ashok Kumar Sanitary Supervisor & field staff of Veterinary section & Transport/Sanitation Wing of JMC were remained present there. Speaking on the occasion, Mayor told that in order to effectively contain the menace of stray animals, free roaming animals in Jammu City and shifting of animals from unregistered dairies within JMC limits, there was much need of additional cattle pond as the present cattle pond owned by JMC at Dogra Hall Jammu having capacity of only about 70 animals at a time does not fulfill the current scenario arisen due to menace of stray animals on daily basis and it was getting difficult for JMC to tackle this alarming situation which also causes frequent traffic jams & road accidents. He further told that there is provision of separate sheds for keeping the animals including Cows, Bulls, Horses etc found roaming freely on the roads and lifted by the MVO section of JMC as well as open shed for cow dung collection, shed for storage of feed & fodder, residential quarter of chowkidar and other staff as well as other allied facilities and it will be constructed with an estimate cost of 50 lacs only where about 200 animals will be kept at one time. He directed the concerned Engineering wing to complete this development work within the stipulated time period and appeal to all the dairy owners who are operating within JMC limits to get their dairy units registered in Jammu Municipal Corporation as per guidelines issued by Central Pollution Control Board and other concerned agencies and not to let loose their animals on the city roads to avoid any type of legal & strict action against them and warned them that in future JMC will not release the animals so lifted from the roadsides & keep their surroundings neat & clean so that aim of Swacch Bharat Mission can be achieved successfully. Deputy Mayor also spoke on the occasion & told that all the waste so generated in the cattle pond like dung/urine etc will be processed scientifically for making vermi compost, Ark & Biogas and all the councillors in coordination with officers/officials of JMC are working as a team from the last three years and committed to provide best possible facilities and development activities in all the wards of the city.
