Major boost to data-driven health policy making; Ayushman Bharat Yojana dashboard gets revamped

The Ayushman Bharat represents the changing face of India’s healthcare sector. It has prevented crores of poor households falling into poverty and also improved their health.

As per the 2015 estimates, in the National Health Policy draft , over 63 million people faced poverty every year due to healthcare costs alone. AB-PMJAY provides Rs. 5 lakh of health cover per family per year. The deprivation criteria in the SECC database decides if a person is eligible for AB-PMJAY cover.

E-Sanjeevani telemedicine services and Ayushman Bharat Health accounts (ABHA) form major components of a national digital health infrastructure under Ayushman Bharat. To further streamline the program’s implementation, real time data is an imperative, for instance, data on the number of ABHAs created.

The government took a step in this direction on June 6 by releasing its newly revamped and dynamic public dashboard. It provides key information and insights about Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana’s progress through real-time data and analysis.

In line with the government’s vision of minimum government and maximum governance, the dashboard will aid in data-driven and evidence-based policy making and promote greater transparency and accountability in the public sector. It gives a comprehensive view about the progress of the scheme from a state/UT vantage point using informative charts.

The dash board

The newly updated dashboard provides detailed information about the number of Ayushman Bharat Cards created, empanelled hospitals and authorised hospital admissions amongst others at both national and state level.

It allows users to further view the data distributed according to gender and age. Another insight added to the dashboard is regarding top procedures and specialities availed by the beneficiaries at the empanelled hospitals under the scheme. The dashboard can be accessed at Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY official website (https://pmjay.gov.in) or directly at: NHA | Setu Dashboard (pmjay.gov.in)

Progress of scheme as per Dashboard

As on 7 th June 2022, 13,57,17,212 ABHAs, formerly known as Health IDs have been created under Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). 17,95,638 were created in the last 30 days and 226 today. Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Chattisgarh ranks one, two and three respectively in number of ABHAs created.

In the ‘Age Group’ category under the ‘Ayushman Cards Created’ panel, the pie chart reveals that the highest number of Ayushman Card holders are between the age group of 30 to 44 years while the age groups falling between 15 to 29 years and 45-59 years are trailing close behind.

Ayushman Bharat Health Account holders can share their health data with health care providers and can also access the repository of their own health data. They can receive their digital lab reports, prescriptions and diagnosis seamlessly from verified healthcare professionals and health service providers.

A total of 3,35,85,498 authorised hospital admissions have been done under the program since its launch, whereas 301 admissions have been done on June 7. A total of 15,337 public hospitals and 12,618 private hospitals have been empanelled under the program
