Lunar Eclipse 2021 Live Updates: Watch livestream of longest Chandra Grahan in 580 years today
Skygazers will witness the second and last lunar eclipse of the year today. It will be a partial lunar eclipse and will last for about three and a half hours.
It will be the longest partial lunar eclipse in 580 years. The duration of today’s Chandra Grahan will be 3 hours 28 minutes and 24 seconds.
The lunar eclipse 2021 will be visible from western Africa, western Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Australia, the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.
The eclipse will not be visible in most parts of India. It will be visible from some parts of northeastern India only.

“The partial phase of the eclipse will begin at 12.48 p.m. and will end at 4.17 p.m.,” the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The maximum partial eclipse would occur at around 2:34 pm when 97 per cent of the Moon will be covered by the Earth’s shadow.
The partial phase of the lunar eclipse towards the end will be visible from parts of Andhra Pradesh and Assam on November 19.

“Partial lunar eclipses might not be quite as spectacular as total lunar eclipses — where the Moon is completely covered in Earth’s shadow — but they occur more frequently. And that just means more opportunities to witness little changes in our solar system that sometimes occur right before our eyes,” NASA said.
The first Chandra Grahan of the year occurred on May 26.
Though the Chandra Grahan will be visible from some parts of India, it won’t have any religious implications. Hence, there are no Sutak timings.
