LS Speaker Om Birla convenes all-party meeting on Jan 30 to ensure smooth functioning of House
Ahead of Budget session of Parliament, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has convened an all-party meeting on Sunday to ensure smooth functioning of the House. Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu has also called all party meeting virtually on Monday. The government has also convened an all-party meeting on the same day to seek cooperation from all political parties for smooth functioning of the Budget Session. The meeting will be held virtually in view of the Covid-19 situation. The floor leaders of political parties in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha have been invited for the meeting.The Budget Session will begin on Monday with President Ram Nath Kovind’s address to both the Houses of Parliament. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget on 1st of February. Both the Houses of Parliament will function in shifts to ensure Covid safety protocol. The new protocol will come into effect from 2nd of February. Rajya Sabha proceedings will begin from 10 AM to 3 PM and Lok Sabha from 4 PM to 9 PM. The first part of the Budget Session will continue till 11th of February. After a month-long recess, the second part of the session will begin from 14th of March and conclude on 8th of April this year. |
