The official continued that there are around 15 jetties among them. Some are looked after directly by the tourism department, while others are looked after by the Lakes conservation and management authority.
According to VC Lakes conservation and management authority, the department has previously renovated two jetties from the Shalimar side and is planning to revive some other jetties.

A local Shikara owner who requested not be named told Rising Kashmir that earlier jetties were also damaged at Char-Chanri after highlighting the issue. The authorities took some measures and restored the damaged jetties.
He said these departments should regularly conduct inspections on these jetties so they can come to know about the damaged jetties at the earliest. which the department is not carrying, resulting in the jetties getting damaged.
Several jetties in Dal have been damaged and they need attention. At present, a small amount of money is enough to restore the damaged jetties. But the department won’t pay heed to them unless they get damaged completely, the Shikara owner said.
Speaking to Rising Kashmir, VC Lakes conservation and management authority Dr. Bashir Ahmad said the department has issued the tenders for the reviving of jetties. He said all the damaged jetties falling under department would be revived at the earliest.
To a query VC said some of the jetties are being looked after by the tourism department we have asked them to revive the jetties falling under them rest of the damaged jetties will be revived by the LCMA department, the officer added.
