The number of road accidents in the country has witnessed a decline in recent years. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said, over four lakh 80 thousand road accidents occurred in the country in 2016 while over four lakh 49 thousand road accidents have been reported in 2019.
In 2020, over three lakh 66 thousand road accidents have occurred in the country.
