ICONIC week celebrations focus on Employment, Entrepreneurship and Empowerment

In view of employment, entrepreneurship and jobs generation, ICONIC week celebrations acquire greater significance with a number of plans and programmes in place from 20 regional offices of the Ministry of Labour and Employment. Apart from awareness and empowerment of workers, the programme also focuses on road and fire safety. Coinciding with International Women’s Day, it does lay stress on women related issues and new forms of employment.

As part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Union Ministry of Labour and Employment has planned several programs for ICONIC week celebrations between 7 March to 13 March, 2022.
Activities at the events include celebration of 25 crore registrations under e-SHRAM, launch of e-SHRAM on UMANG app and launch of Donate-a-Pension scheme. The events also aim to celebrate India’s growth story since independence to a leading economic powerhouse, as per an official statement.

Union Minister for Labour and Employment Bhupender Yadav said that the programs will build a movement that will further accelerate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.

According to the release, every division of the Ministry has planned multiple initiatives to uphold the mission of the Ministry and contribute to the Vision of India 2.0. These activities include celebrating 25 crore registrations under e-SHRAM, launching of e-SHRAM on UMANG app, the launch of Donate-a-Pension scheme, Job fair by National Career Service centers, placement drives, and placement-oriented camps with special focus on SC/STs and differently-abled at 65 places across India.

Awareness generation and sensitization of workers and employers about their rights and compliances respectively under various labour Laws in the entire iconic week by CLC(C) through its 20 regional offices across India are other events planned by the ministry.

The Ministry also said that during the entire week and especially on International Women’s Day at March 8, special programs will be organized in State/UTs by Dattopant Thengadi National Board for Workers Education and Development (DTNBWED) on the contribution of women in the freedom struggle, women empowerment, road and fire safety.
Distribution of health supplements and AYUSH kits to women who work in brick kilns and women beedi workers will also be done.

The week will witness different awareness programs at state, district and taluk level for bonded labourers, construction workers and a Safety awareness program by Directorate General Of Mines Safety (DGMS). Health camps will be organised by Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) and seminars/workshops by VV Giri National Labour Institute (VVGNLI) are other programmes during the week.
