Home Minister says India is first in global digital transactions and accounts for 40 percent of total global digital payments in 2021

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that transactions through Unified Payment Interface (UPI) have crossed one trillion US dollar mark in financial year 2022 and today India is first in global digital transactions. He said, India accounted for 40 percent of the total global digital payments in 2021 and BHIM-UPI are no longer just an Indian app but have become global.

Mr. Shah addressed the National Conference on Cyber Safety and National Security in New Delhi yesterday. He said, 130 crore Indians get the benefit from the government directly in their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer. He said, the Center has transferred an amount of 23 lakh crore rupees directly to bank accounts in seven years and this has resulted in savings of about two lakh crore rupees.

This Minister said, this is a big achievement but at the same time, it is also a big challenge as cyber fraud and cyber attacks pose challenge before the country. He said, if India has to move ahead in this field, then a Cyber Safe India has to be built.
