In a tweet today, Mr. Shah said, on this day in 1975, Congress snatched the constitutional rights of every Indian by imposing emergency. He saluted those who have dedicated their lives in the great sacrifice for the restoration of democracy against this dictatorial mindset.

Rajnath Singh in a tweet said, imposition of emergency in the country 47 years ago can never be forgotten. He urged the people to dedicate themselves to the defense of democracy and take a pledge to maintain the dignity of the constitution and institutions.
