Himachal Pradesh: PM Modi launches Hydro-power projects worth over 11 thousand crore rupees in Mandi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth 11,000 crore rupees, including Dhaula Sidh hydropower and Renukaji dam projects, at Mandi. Speaking at a public meeting in Mandi,  Mr. Modi said Himachal has played a major role in shaping his life journey. He congratulated all for being part of the Himachal government’s completion of four years of Seva and Sidhi.

Mr. Modi said, the government at the Centre and the state left no stone unturned to change the life of the people of Himachal Pradesh. Prime Minister also complimented all the people of Himachal for not only religiously fighting COVID-19, but also successfully maintaining the speed of development. He said, India had set a target in 2016 to meet 40 percent of its installed electricity capacity from non-fossil energy sources by 2030 and today every Indian will be proud that India has achieved this goal in November this year itself.

Mr Modi said, in 7 decades, the previous governments provided 7,00,000 lakh water connections in Himachal Pradesh, but  7,00,000 water connections were given within two years, that too amid COVID-19.
 
The Prime minister said the government’s only commitment is only for development. He said, the work of the Atal Tunnel was completed and also widened the road connecting Chandigarh to Manali and Shimla.

Mr. Modi said, with the new 21 years age rule for the marriage of daughters, girls will now also get time to study and pursue their careers.
 
Prime Minister said, India is called the pharmacy of the world today and Himachal has a huge power behind it. Himachal Pradesh has helped not only other states but also other countries during the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Mr. Modi asserted that in Himachal, the government is focusing on food processing industry, farming and pharma. He said government is developing mega food park and strengthening cold storage infra, Promoting Natural Farming, and encouraging AYUSH Industry in the state.

The Prime minister had a caution for tourists. He said tourists also have a huge responsibility in keeping Himachal clean, free of plastic and other waste. The plastic spread here and there, plastic goes into rivers, so all have to make efforts together to stop the damage it is causing to Himachal.

At the function, Information and Broadcasting minister Anurag Thakur said Prime Minister Narendra  Modi has given a lot to Himachal Pradesh. He said, under his leadership, AIIMS, PGI, and many hospitals have been established in the state. Mr. Thakur congratulated Chief Minister Jairam Thakur on completing four years of government.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister  Jairam Thakur said,  Mandi, is called Chhoti Kashi, as there are more than 300 ancient temples. The Chief Minister said the government is trying to develop Mandi on the same lines as UP’s Kashi. He said, Narendra Modi, inaugurated the Atal Tunnel, Rohtang in 2020 and this tunnel has not only helped the locals but also attracted many tourists to the State.
