Home Minister Amit Shah has said the government will take concerted efforts to ensure zero deaths due to natural calamities like floods, cold wave and heat wave in the country. He was speaking at a function to mark the 17th Foundation Day of the National Disaster Management Authority in New Delhi today.
He said 350 districts in the country will be covered by the services extended by the Apada Mitra voluntaries under the Disaster Management Authorities.
The Home Minister recalled the losses suffered by Odisha due to the Super Cyclone and the earthquake in Gujarat in the past.
Underlining the need for implementation advance alert system, Mr. Shah said efforts should be made to deputy the central teams in advance to the areas based on the scientific study of the possible calamities.
