Govt notifies mass emission standards to introduce alternate fuels with blends of ethanol with gasoline
To promote eco-friendly means of transportation and decarbonise the transport sector, the government has notified mass emission standards to introduce alternate fuels with blends of ethanol with gasoline. Replying to supplementaries in the Lok Sabha on promotion of electric vehicles, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said, with an aim to reduce dependency on fossil fuel and vehicular emissions his Ministry launched Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric vehicles in India (FAME India) Scheme in 2015. The second phase of the FAME India scheme is being implemented for five years from 1st April 2019, focussing on supporting electrification of public and shared transportation.
