Goa receives India Today Tourism awards in 2 categories
Goa received the prestigious India Today Tourism awards in two categories. Mayem Lake was the runner-up in the best adventure tourism category and Ashvem Beach was the runner-up in the best beach category.
G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and Development of the North-Eastern Region, gave the awards at a function held in New Delhi on Friday. Vikas Kamble, deputy resident commissioner in Delhi, received the awards on behalf of the state.
The India Today Group hosts an annual event to announce the winners of the Tourism Survey—an exercise that focuses on the efforts of India’s many energetic state tourism bodies.
Adventure sports at Mayem Lake have been a tourists’ attraction of late. Ashvem Beach in Pernem is known for its scenic nature and cleanliness.
The India Today group picked Goa for these awards after conducting a nationwide poll to arrive at India’s Favourite Destinations. The destinations under several categories were then publicised on a multimedia platform requesting readers to cast their votes. The results were then collated by IPSOS, who also conducted an on-ground survey to arrive at the final results.
