G20: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman calls for proactive and collective efforts toward protecting economies
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said G20 is well placed to catalyze international policy coordination to deal with macroeconomic consequences and called for proactive and collective efforts toward protecting economies. She spoke at the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors FMCBG meeting under G20 Indonesia presidency in Washington. The global economic outlook and risk, international financial architecture, and global health were on the agenda of the meeting. The Minister noted that global growth momentum is dampened by prolonged inflation, supply-chain disruption, volatility in energy markets, and investor uncertainty.
In Washington, she also met US Secretary of Commerce Ms. Gina Raimondo and discussed ways to strengthen economic cooperation in the bilateral and global contexts.
