Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday presented Union Budget 2022-23 highlighting various priorities for different sectors of the Indian economy and the welfare of the people. 

Let’s have a look at key features of the Budget 2022

  • Finance Minister seeks to lay a foundation for the next 25 years (Amrit Kalal) from India at 75 to 100 with a focus on PM Gati Shakti scheme, financing of investments, inclusive development and Productivity enhancement, energy transition and climate action.
  • Har Ghar, Nal Se Jal: 3.8 crore households to be covered in 2022-23
  •  PM Awas Yojana: 80 lakh houses to be completed in 2022-23
  • Vibrant Villages Programme: Targeting the development of villages on the Northern Border left out from the development gains
  • Digital Banking by Post Offices: 100% of post offices to come on the core banking system
  • Digital Payments: Scheduled Commercial Banks to set up 75 Digital Banking Units in 75 districts
  • Public issue of Life Insurance Corporation expected shortly
  • 400 new generation Vande Bharat trains with better efficiency to be brought in Digital rupee to be issued using blockchain and other technologies
  • Implementation of Ken Betwa Link Project benefitting 9.1 lakh hectare farm land, providing drinking water to 62 lakh people and generating 130MW power.
