Former Mumbai Police commissioner Param Bir Singh surfaces in Mumbai after 231 days
Former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh, who was absconding from his duty as well as the ongoing probe in the alleged money laundering case has reached Mumbai after remaining undetectable for over 200 days. On Wednesday, Param Bir Singh said that he was in Chandigarh and would visit Mumbai soon.
As reported earlier by Times Now, Singh has not reported to work since May, after he was transferred as DG, Home Guards. He was transferred from the post of Mumbai Police Commissioner after he levelled serious allegations against former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh.
In a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Singh had alleged that Deshmukh had asked senior officers from the Mumbai Police force to collect Rs 100 crore from bar and restaurant owners in Mumbai.
In another revelation, Param Bir Singh had claimed that DGP Sanjay Pandey had called him and asked him to settle the charges he had levelled against former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh.
Param Bir Singh may face questions from CBI, Chandiwal commission
The Bombay High Court had previously issued notices to Singh and given him 30 days to disclose his location. Singh is being probed by several agencies as well as the Chandiwal commission which has been constituted by the Maharashtra government. The CBI is also likely to question Param Bir Singh.
