FM Nirmala Sitharaman says SEBI is monitoring potential losses in IPOs
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said SEBI is monitoring potential losses in Initial Public Offer (IPOs). Ms Sitharaman said, the NSE and BSE trading platforms are declared as critical infrastructure and that they are being digitally safeguarded from cyber attacks.
Replying to questions in the Lok Sabha she said, during the 2020-21 financial year, 56 entities came out with IPO, out of which 27 entities are small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
She informed the House that during the financial year 2021-2022, sixty-one entities have already come out with IPO till October this year, out of which 34 entities are SMEs. She said, the growth of manufacturing sector in the country aids and promotes the employment generation not only in manufacturing but also in other sectors and vice-versa.
The minister said, in order to support the Industrial sector including manufacturing sector, the government has taken several measures during the last two financial years. She said the Production Linked Incentive(PLI) schemes were introduced on November 11 last year in ten key sectors for enhancing countries manufacturing capabilities.
