EAM S Jaishankar says India is emerging power on Global scale & regional power in Asia
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said that India is an emerging power on a global scale and a regional power in Asia in terms of both size and population. He said, India is one of the world’s most dynamic economies, which has experienced tremendous growth in recent years. Dr Jaishankar said this at a joint press conference with his Paraguayan counterpart, Julio Cesar Arriola, at Asuncion in Paraguay yesterday.
The two leaders held ‘productive’ talks and discussed new areas of bilateral cooperation. They discussed the prospects of growth, trade, development partnership and investments. Dr Jaishankar said, they had a very good exchange of views on the state of the world. Our shared commitment to an international rules-based order, a world which respects international law, which respects agreements, which supports multilateralism, he said.
External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar jointly inaugurated the new Indian Embassy in Paraguay with Foreign Minister of Paraguay Julio Cesar Arriola. Paraguayan Interior Minister Federico A. González was also present on the occasion. Dr Jaishankar said, it is a reiteration of the India-Paraguay strong bilateral relationship and the long-standing multilateral cooperation. He expressed confidence that the new resident mission will take the India-Paraguay relations to greater heights.
Dr Jaishankar is on his first-ever official visit to South America aimed at boosting overall bilateral ties with the region. He is also the first Indian Foreign Minister to visit Paraguay coinciding with the 60th anniversary of the beginning of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Later, Dr Jaishankar called on President Marito Abdo and conveyed the personal greetings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
