Country’s aviation sector to see 400 million air travelers in next 7 to 10 years, says Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has said that the civil aviation sector in the country is witnessing the paradigm  shift in terms of numbers of airports and fleet of aircrafts.

He said Indian aviation sector has attained the pre -Covid level of air travellers per day which was over four lakh then and is now closely competing with Indian railways in the air conditioner segment of travelling. Mr Scindia was delivering the Keynote address at the CEOs’ Roundtable discussion on the Roadmap for Robust Growth Over Next Decade in New Delhi today. 

He said, the total number of travellers in pre covid time was one hundred 44 million domestic plus sixty million international, making it around two hundred million. The Minister asserted that this number should be doubled from two hundred million to four hundred million over the next seven to ten years.

Mr Scindia stated that, with the entry of Akasa airlines and the expected revamp of Jet airways, aviation sector is going to touch the phenomenal growth curve this fiscal.
