Country is rapidly moving towards jointness of three services; efforts to have common logistic nodes, says Defence Minister Rajnath Singh

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the country is rapidly moving towards jointness of three services. Speaking at the Indian Army Logistics Seminar in New Delhi today, Mr. Singh stressed on the need to build a robust, secure and speedy logistics supply system to take the economy of the country to greater heights.

He also emphasized on the common logistics node so that resources of one service can seamlessly be made available to other services. He said, logistics is among fields that benefited most from jointness of services and military logistics is an extremely important aspect that determines the outcome of a war.

Mr. Singh said, the criticality of logistics sustenance is going to increase in the sectors including battlefield and civil sector in the future. In such a situation, reforming the system of logistics according to the needs of the 21st century is the need of the hour.

The Defence Minister called for civil-military fusion to further strengthen the logistics system and stay prepared to deal with future challenges. He emphasized that logistics in future wars will require jointness not only among the three Services but also among different bodies in the form of industrial back-up, research and development, material support, industry and man-power.

Mr. Singh said, self-reliance is an important component in the field of logistics and to achieve these goals, the country needs an Atma Nirbhar logistics supply system.

He said, the government has prepared many important policies to integrate logistics in the country and to make it self-reliant. This includes emphasis on infrastructure development through National Logistics Policy and PM Gatishakti platform.

In his opening remarks, Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande emphasized on bringing synergy in the efforts of the nation to make India a global powerhouse of Defence logistics.

He exuded confidence that the ongoing efforts will not only cater to domestic needs but also help friendly foreign countries.
