BSF hands over 88 Bangladeshi fishermen along with 2 fishing trawlers to Border Guard, Bangladesh

The Border Security Force handed over 88 Bangladeshi fishermen along with two fishing trawlers to the Border Guard Bangladesh on Monday after completing all the due legal processes.

The fishermen were apprehended on 16 February this year by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) while illegally fishing in the Indian waters off Bangadhuni Island approximately 10 to 15 nautical miles inside International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL). They were handed over by the ICG to the marine police at Fraserganj in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.

The fishermen along with their trawlers named FB Shah Amanat and FB Sonar Madina 2 were handed over to the Neeldumur Battalion of the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) by the BSF. The handing over took place at Kaikhali Border Out Post (BOP) area in the middle of the Kalindi River on the Bangladesh-India border, said a release of the BGB.

Representatives of BGB and BSF, Police officials of Satkhira, and local public representatives from the Cox’s Bazar area were present during the handing over of the fishermen.
