Agricultural loans for farmers increased 2.5 times in seven years: PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said Agriculture budget has increased manifold in only the last six years. Addressing a webinar on the positive impact of Union Budget 2022-23 on the theme SMART Agriculture, he said a special drive connected three crore, small farmers, with Kisan Credit Card (KCC) facilities. Mr. Modi said there has been a 2.5 times rise in agricultural loans for farmers in seven years.
He said that Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme which was launched three years ago, has proved to be big support for the small and marginal farmers of the country. So far over 1 lakh 75 thousand crore rupees have been transferred directly into the bank accounts to around 11 crore farmers under the scheme. He said, it is a matter of pride that with just one click, the money is transferred directly into their bank accounts.
Prime Minister highlighted that this year’s budget suggests seven steps to make farmers innovative smart; to process natural farming on a mission mode along 5km area of Ganga river banks, to provide modern technology to agriculture and horticulture farmers, to focus on oilseeds for a reduction on edible oil imports.
