Centre asks States, UTs to increase uptake of precaution dose of Sputnik vaccine

The Centre has asked States and Union Territories to ensure the availability of the Sputnik V vaccine and the functionality of private COVID Vaccination Centres to increase the uptake of precaution doses of the Sputnik vaccine. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has written a letter to all Chief Secretaries and Administrators of States and Union Territories in this regard. He said that the uptake of the precaution dose of the Sputnik vaccine is only five per cent of those who are due for it. Mr Bhushan said, private COVID Vaccination Centres, which were providing the Sputnik vaccine, should reach out to the due beneficiaries to get their second and precaution doses. States and UTs have also been asked to establish targeted communication for the due beneficiaries of the precaution dose of Sputnik V.
