The pilot project to start at SKIMS followed by Pan-UT implementation
Aiming to improve quality healthcare delivery by encouraging use of technologies, the Jammu and Kashmir government has launched the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) in the Union Territory. The pilot project of the mission will be launched at the Sher-e-Kashmir Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura and subsequently it will be launched in all hospitals across UT.
This was informed in the meeting chaired by Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department, Sh. Vivek Bhardwaj. The meeting was also attended by Mission Director, National Health Mission, J&K, Principals of Medical Colleges, Directors, Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) and Block Medical Officers (BMOs).
Speaking on this occasion, Sh. Vivek Bhardwaj, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department said, “Health and wellness is a top priority of the government. The administration is making all possible efforts to provide better facilities to people across all sections of society in Jammu & Kashmir. Success of CoWIN and Arogya Setu has highlighted the potential of technology in improving equitable access to healthcare services for a broader segment of population. I am sure the implementation of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission will pave the way for a seamless quality healthcare access for the people of UT across India.”
He further urged all concerned officials to install Health/Hospital Management Information System (HMIS), also known as Hospital Information System (HIS) to expedite the implementation of ABDM in Jammu and Kashmir.
Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) is a program started by Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in order to enable national portability of health services in the country. Under the ABDM, the citizens will be able to create their ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) numbers, to which their digital health records can be linked. This will enable creation of longitudinal health records for individuals across various healthcare providers and improve clinical decision making by healthcare providers.
